Lago Vista Texas

Located on a peninsula on the north shore of Lake Travis, Lago Vista is near the natural habitat of the Balcones Canyon land National Wildlife Refuge. The purpose of the Refuge is to conserve the nesting habitat of the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Black-capped Vireo.  Both birds make their nests in the Hill Country, and the warbler is exclusive to the area.  Additionally, the city has 15 miles of shore line and 44,000 acres of the cleanest lake water in Texas.  The rolling hills and wood provide the perfect setting for walking, hiking, and biking. 

Lago Vista is just a great place to visit and live, with its relaxed atmosphere, friendly people and lakeside living. In fact, the area´s demographics are changing because of its wide appeal. Lago Vista used to be a place where people retired, but now a lot of young families moving in. Lago Vista is close to everything, including Austin.  A lot of people who live here describe it as paradise!

Of utmost importance to younger families is the local school system.  Lago Vista Independent 
School District is home to three campuses,  one elementary school, one middle school, 
and one high school.  With low student to teacher ratio´s and high-test scores, this school system is one of the best in Texas.  Outstanding achievement on the 2002 Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) test earned exemplary ratings for Lago Vista Elementary School and Lago Vista High School.  The middle school earned a recognized rating.

 per the Chamber of Commerce while the medium 
 price of a home for a home in the area was 
 $159,900.  The median household income was
 $48,806.  Additionally, Lago Vista enjoys a very 
low crime rate  as compared to major cities  in 
Texas. 

 Most residents of Lago Vista are members    of the  Lago Vista (LVPOA).   The LVPOA system  consists of ten lakeside park facilities including  three boat launch ramps, an 88-slip marina, a 60-foot fishing well, campgrounds, swimming pool, a recreation center, a clubhouse with a full catering kitchen, an activities center, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, playing fields and an administrative office building. The Activity Center houses an extensive fitness center, a dark room, two meeting rooms, three separate bathrooms, and a kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave. The Recreation Center consists of a pool and ping pong tables, games, arts and crafts, large size TV and computers.  Members receive all these benefits for a very small annual membership fee.
